The department of Music began in October, 2011 with nine Lecturers under the management headed by Professor Adeyemi Ibukunoluwa Idowu (the Provost). The nine lecturers in the department include eight permanent staff and a chief lecturer on sabbatical leave as a pioneer Head of Department, including a secretary and a clerk. The first set of students given admission for 2011/2012 academic session on Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) was thirty three in number. Presently, the department comprises of N C E I – III students that are running courses in single and double major programmes. The single major programmes involve the combination of courses from four other departments involving Social Studies, Religious Studies, English Language and Yoruba Language. The academic staff of the department at inception are Dr. (Mrs.) Odunuga, Dr. E. O. Ayeyemi, Mr. D. O. A. Ogunrinade, Mr. J. O. Falusi, Mr. A. Abe, Mr. K. S. Omodele and Mr. B. J. Babarinde with two other lecturers who had left for University appointments, Mr. O. V. Ajayi and Mrs. O. T. Oladiipo.
