AFUED, Canadian Educational council signs MOU for establishment of International career centre in the Institution
The Management of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with the Canadian Educational Council (CEC) to establish a World class Career Centre in the Institution.
The signing of the MOU was preceded earlier with a meeting held with the Management of the University on December 18, 2025 by the representative of the CEC, Dr. Adeniyi John.
Speaking during the meeting held with the members of Management of the University, and the representative of the Canadian Educational Council, Dr. Adeniyi John, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, thanked the visitors for finding the institution worthy as one of the beneficiaries of its career centre establishment.
The University Administrator described the gesture as landmark in the institution, stating that the development would create good opportunities for students and staff to develop their potentials. Prof. Popoola expressed optimism that when fully operational, the Career Centre would not only transform career landscape of our students, and staff, but also put them in the right path for attaining better life.
“I am glad to witness this milestone, this Career Centre will not only equip our students and staff, but will also put the University on the global map. I am sure that our students will utilize this opportunity, and their turnout will be encouraging and we will give you necessary support to make this initiative work out” he stated.
Responding, the leader of the delegates, from the Canadian Education Centre, Dr. Adeniyi John, appreciated the Vice Chancellor and members of the University management for the love they have for the students and growth of the institution, stating that the career centre, would not only benefit the students, and staff but also members of the host community.
His words: “One of the biggest challenges people face in Africa today, most especially, our youth is their mindset, hence the core objectives of this career centre, is to change their mindset and empower them with skills that are necessary for works in global communities”.
He, therefore, urged Management of the University to ensure that students of the institution graduate with skills that would help them get jobs, and compete internationally after their graduation.
Dr. John further stated that “we will ensure that the students become useful and productive for themselves, their country, and the world at large, because “everyone needs collaboration to grow”.
The meeting which was held on Wednesday 21st January, 2026 at the Vice Chancellor’s Office in the University, had in attendance Principal Officers of the institution, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Alao; Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin and the University Librarian, Dr. Azino Akpokurerie.
Also present were the representatives of Canadian Educational Council (CEC), led by Dr. Adeniyi John and the front desk officer at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Miss Oluitan Iyanuoluwa.
