Adeyemi Varsity holds Fine Art exhibition

The Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, has undertaken an Art exhibition in the institution.



The 4-day exercise, which began with an opening ceremony on Tuesday October 28, ends on Friday 31, October 2025.



Tagged: “25 Steps Ahead, Unbridled Creativity,” the annual art exhibition is organised to showcase works-of-Art, undertaken by final year students admitted for the Nigeria certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes respectively in the institution.



Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor AFUED, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Poppola, commended the students and Head Department of Fine and Applied Arts in the University for the Exhibition.



The University Administrator, while going round various sections of the Art department, which included painting, graphics, sculpture, textile, ceramics and drawing, encouraged the graduating students to leverage on the experience obtained during their training, by embarking on job creation after their graduation. Responding to some of the challenges facing the department especially at the ceramic sections as presented by the Head of Department Fine and Applied Arts, Dr. Ajayi A. O. the University Administrator urged the leadership of the department to look inward by improvising some of the equipment required for practicals through local production. He, however, promised the readiness of his administration to continue to support the department in the area of procurement of modern equipment that would aid teaching and learning in the department.



Earlier in his remarks, Associate Professor and Head of Department of Fine and Applied Arts, AFUED, Dr. Ajayi A. O. expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and other members of Management for attending the art exhibition. He explained that the exercise which featured display of artworks undertaken by the graduating NCE AND Degree students of the 2024/2025 academic session, was meant to celebrate “imagination and relentless pursuit of originality.”



Ajayi further explained that the theme of the art exhibition, “25 steps ahead reminds us that creativity is not static, it is progressive, it challenges us to think beyond boundaries, to anticipate the future and to lead with ideas that inspire change,” he stated.



Admonishing the graduating students on the need to work harder, the Fine Art lecturer said, “as you step beyond these walls into the professional world, remember that art is not confined to galleries, it is brought to light in your thoughts, how you solve problems and how you touch lives keep moving 25 steps ahead, never lose the fire of curiosity and innovation that brought you here”, he remarked.



The art exhibition, which featured display of works of Art by 33 students of the institution, made up of 18 NCE and 15 Degree students, was attended by Principal Officers of the University including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao; Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin and Acting Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Adeola Afolabi.



Also present were Academic and Non-academic Staff in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, AFUED, Staff of the University from office of the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Directorate of Information and Public Relations as well as Security department.
