NAAT, Adeyemi Varsity chapter gets new executive
The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo chapter, has inaugurated members of new executives, that would pilot the affairs of the association for the next four years in the institution.
Those inaugurated were, Comrade Gbadamosi Lasisi, Caretaker Chairman; Saliyu Mutiu, Secretary; Oloyede Idaya, Treasurer as well as Akinwonmi Babalola and Adesina Ayodeji, Member 1 and 2 respectively.
Addressing members of the association during the inauguration, which was held on Wednesday February 18, 2026 in the University, the Vice-Chancellor AFUED, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola congratulated the newly elected executive and the union for organising a peaceful election.
While acknowledging important roles which Technologists play in society, the University Administrator, said for a country to achieve more growth and development, there is need for more attention to be paid towards the training of technologists in order to sharpen their skills and provide rooms for them to contribute their quota to national development.
Prof. Popoola commended NAAT Adeyemi Federal University chapter for partnering with other sister unions to promote peace and orderliness in the institution.
Also in his remarks, the National President of NAAT, Comrade (Hon) Ibeji Nwokoma represented by the South West Zonal Coordinator of NAAT, Comrade Olawumi Samuel Akinade, congratulated the new executive and advised them to seek regularly for self-improvement and abide with the Union ‘s constitution.
Comrade Ibeji Nwokoma also stressed the need for members of the New executive to cooperate and support the institution’s Management in their efforts at advancing development of the University.
The highpoint of the event, was the admission of the Union’s oath of allegiance on the new executive and presentation of the Union’s working document, year 2009 Agreement with the Federal Government as well as document containing Registration of the Union to the new Caretaker Chairman, Comrade Gbadamosi Lasisi by Comrade Olawumi Samuel Akinade on behalf of the National President of the association, Comrade ( Hon.) Ibeji Nwokoma.
Speaking after receiving the documents, the new Caretaker Chairman NAAT AFUED chapter, Comrade Gbadamosi Lasisi, thanked members of the Union for confidence repose in him and promised not to disappoint them.
Similarly, Gbadamosi also expressed appreciation to Management of the University for creating conducive atmosphere saying the development has brought peace and tranquility in the institution.
Earlier in a lecture delivered on the occasion by Dr. Bello Olawale from the Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), he advised members of the association to always exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking on “ Effective Leadership Strategies for Laboratory Professionals”, Olawale said for Laboratory Professionals holding leadership positions to achieve success, they must be able to provide inspiration to their surbodinates, collaborate with them and generate new ideas that can enhance their skills.
He listed traits of leadership to include humility, integrity, resilience, risk- taking, emotional intelligence, mentorship and critical thinking.
On ways through which members of the association could improve their skills, the lecture presenter, advised them to always attend conferences and workshops, stating that the move would improve their knowledge on current global trends in their areas of specialisation.
The renowned scientist, however, appealed to government at all levels, to allocate more money for training of academic technologists, stating that the step would enhanced the country’s development.
The event which held at the New Centre for Educational Technology building in the University was followed with the donation of medical equipment and accessories to the University health center by the NAAT AFUED chapter.
Items donated were 4 intravenous (IV) injection stands, 10 packets of hand gloves as well as 10 packets of Nose masks.
Eminent personalities who attended the event were, the Vice-Chancellor AFUED, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola; South-west Zonal Coordinator of NAAT, Comrade Olawumi Samuel Akinade who represented the National President of NAAT, Comrade (Hon.) Ibeji Nwokoma; Rector Adeyemi College of Technology Ondo, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan and lecture presenter, Dr. Bello Olawale from FUTA.
Also present were Deans and Directors, Head of Department and Units from AFUED as well as Staff and students from the institution among others.
