AFUED VC seeks continuous prayers for varsity progress.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, has urged staff and students of the institution not to relent in praying for the progress and development of the University.



Prof. Popoola gave the charge in a remarks made at the July edition of the University-organised monthly prayer meeting, which held on Wednesday July 1 2026,in the institution.



Acknowledging importance of prayer in every human endeavours, the University Administrator, stated that the monthly spiritual exercise was organised to demonstrate the trust that the institution's leadership and its students have in God, noting that the development has brought good results in the University.



Prof. Popoola commended the organisers of the prayer meeting and members of the University prayer committee for sustaining the monthly spiritual exercise.



His words: " I thank men of God who have been organising this programme, we should continue to pray and as we do so, let us put all our trust in God. We should also hold on to the word of God, we are more than the conquerors, whatever may be happening, we should put our trust in God, he will deliver us".



"Let us watch and pray, if we see any strange person, let us report to security people on campus. Again, there is need for you to take care of your health by making sure you go regularly for medical checkup."



"We need to continue to stand in the garb for the institution, the Vice-Chancellor, your friends and colleagues, I pray that this month of July will be a month of greater blessings" the VC remarked.



In a sermon delivered on the occasion by one of the Senior members of the University prayer committee, Dr. Olukayode Ojo Akinola, he urged staff and students of the institution not to despair in the face of challenges confronting them.



Speaking on what he termed: "In a time Iike this", the one-time Dean of Student Affairs in the University, admonished the congregation to have strong faith in God that He is the only one that " can deliver them from all challenges".



Olukayode quoted Habbacus chapter 3 verse 17-19, Luke 22 verse 41-44 as well as 2nd King chapter 20 verse1-6 to butress his points. He emphasised importance of regular prayers, stating that it is through prayers that " we get help from above".



He said: "We should not give up, God will answer the prayers that we offered, our prayers should not stop because of our problems" he remarked.



The spiritual gathering, which featured offering of prayers for the University, its Management, staff and students, as well as Ondo community, the state and Nigeria nation, climaxed with the recognition of members of the congregation born in the month of July.



Important personalities from the University community who attended the occasion included the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao and the Librarian, Dr. Azino Akpokuriere.



Others were Deans and Directors, Heads of Directorates, Divisions and Units as well as staff and students of the University from various sections to mention but few.
