Adeyemi Varsity matriculates 5,141 students

The authorities of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, have offered admission to five thousand, one hundred and forty-one students for the 2025/2026 session in the institution.



Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held for the newly admitted students on Thursday February 19, 2026 in the University, the institution's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, congratulated the matriculants for their success at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as well as their admission into various degree programmes of the University, saying “your success in the Examination and presence here today is a vindication that education is not a scam”.



The University Administrator stressed the importance of education, stating that “Education not only empowers individuals to shape their futures, but also drives socio-economic growth, innovation and national development saying by choosing the University, they (matriculants) have made the right choice as the second set of students to be admitted following the elevation of the institution from College of Education to a University”.



Prof. Popoola advised the students to be responsible, while admonishing them to see their admission as the “beginning of an exciting journey in pursuit of knowledge, academic and personal growth and unlocking potentials as future scholars and leaders”.



The University helmsman also admonished the matriculating students to always be law abiding by obeying rules, regulations, norms and values put in place to guide their conduct, behaviours, interactions and relationships with every segment of the University community.



He warned the new students against indulging in social vices and deviant behaviours such as cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressings, fighting/assault as well as bullying and willful damage to University properties saying anyone found contravening the law would be sanctioned.



On the matriculation oath sworn to by the students, Prof. Popoola said “Matriculation oath is a legal bond between you and the University, it is your solemn promise to be of good behaviour and a worthy ambassador of your parents and the University, I, therefore, appeal to you to take the matriculation oath seriously and avoid all infractions that can truncate your aspirations in the University” he remarked.



The highpoint of the event, which was held at the Prof. Babatunde Ipaye Lecture theatre was the admission of oath of allegiance on the students by the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede who was represented by Mrs. Adeyinka Tugbiyele.



Important dignitaries who attended the ceremony included some principal officers of the University: Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao; Representative of the Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, Mrs. Adeyinka Tugbiyele and the Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin.



Also present were Deans and Directors, Heads of Departments and Units, representative of the Registrar Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Barr. Abdulkadir Abdulhakeem as well as staff and students from the University, parents and relatives of the matriculating students to mention but few.
